FAQ Section

Who can participate in the hackathon? +
Only undergraduate students in teams of 3–4 members.

The hackathon is open only to undergraduate students. Each team must have a minimum of 3 members and a maximum of 4 members, including the team leader. Teams must be formed from the same college. Cross-disciplinary teams (e.g., Computer Science + Electronics + Mechanical) are encouraged to promote interdisciplinary problem-solving.

Each theme has independent judging panels and separate prizes.
What is the prize pool? +
Total ₹25,000 per track—Winner ₹15,000, Runner-up ₹10,000.

The total proposed prize pool is ₹1,00,000, distributed equally across the four tracks (two software + two hardware).

For each track/theme:
• Winner: ₹15,000
• Runner-up: ₹10,000
How many rounds are there for the hackathon? +
Subsection Round and Section Round (Finals).

• Subsection Round (27th October 2025): Idea pitching and presentation in PPT format.
• Section Round (15th–16th November 2025): A 24-hour hackathon where shortlisted teams build working prototypes or applications.
Do we have to carry our own laptops and other necessities? +
Yes. Teams must bring their laptops, chargers, extension boards, and stationery.
When will the subsection round take place, and where? +
On 27th October 2025, across subsections: North Karnataka, Mysore, Mangalore, and Bangalore.

The subsection round will be conducted across the four subsections of IEEE Bangalore Section: North Karnataka, Mysore, Mangalore, and Bangalore. Venues will be hosted by selected IEEE Student Branches, chosen by the IEEE Bangalore Section SAC Team. The venues are provided on the Home Page
How many teams will be shortlisted for the section finals? +
A total of 40 teams (10 per track/theme).

From all subsections combined, a total of 40 teams will be selected for the section round. This equals 10 teams per track/theme. Specifically, two teams per track will qualify from each subsection, except Bangalore, which will send four per track due to higher participation.
What is expected from teams in the section round? +
• Software Teams: Must build and present a working software solution. They must submit a GitHub repository (well documented) along with a live/deployed link (cloud-hosted or server link) to demonstrate the functional application.

• Hardware Teams: Must build and demonstrate a working hardware prototype at the venue. All necessary components should be brought by the team, organizers are not responsible for any components.

Both software and hardware teams will also be required to implement additional constraints and features revealed on the day of the section round.
When will the winners be announced for the section round? +
On 16th November 2025 during the valedictory ceremony.
Are components provided for hardware teams in the subsection round? +
n the subsection round, hardware teams will only present their idea and proposal; no components will be provided. Teams are responsible for arranging their own components, and organizers hold no responsibility.

In the section round, shortlisted teams must assemble and demonstrate a working prototype.
When will the section round take place? +
On 15th–16th November 2025 as a 24-hour hackathon at RNSIT Bangalore.
